The venue for the first Northern Gathering is to be Kinnego Bushcraft Centre at Oxford Island nature reserve in Co.Down. Having had our first meeting there, I can confirm that the facilities are amazing – plenty of spaces for meetings, a quiet camping area, cooking area, lots of parking, tipis, yurts – it really is the perfect spot. Plus it is easy to access from the M1 too.
Although billed as a Northern Gathering (meaning the northern end of Ireland, rather than Northern Ireland specifically), the event will be open to all and we hope to have many folk who would have gone to an All Ireland gathering.
Over the coming months we will be meeting to organise the event, particularly how we work with other groups to bring permaculture to a broader audience, and create a garden at Kinnego that will be a permanent resource for the centre.
