The 2025 All Ireland Permaculture Gathering is on!
So… who’s coming then?
Tents are being dug out, beetroot will be dug up, sunshine is being booked, and all are swotting up on the permaculture principles (only joking!) That can only mean one thing – the All Ireland Permaculture Gathering is back and you’re invited!
This year, we’re teaming up again with our lovely friends at CELT (Centre for Environmental Living and Training) to bring the Gathering to the gorgeous, wild-spirited Slieve Aughty Centre in Loughrea, Co. Galway for a second year courtesy of Esther and family!
Mark the dates:
- Arrive: Friday 22nd August from 4pm
- Main Gathering: Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th
What is it, this Permaculture gathering thing?
The Gathering is a bit hard to explain until you’ve been – but imagine this:
- A field full of friendly folk, campfires and compost loos, fascinating workshops and spontaneous skillshares, deep chats, frivolous chats and lots of laughs!
It’s not a festival and it’s not a conference. It’s more like a big family reunion… if your family were into mycelium networks and off-grid systems.
The Permaculturey Bit
It’s all rooted in the 3 permaculture ethics – because if you’re going to get together in a field, you might as well have some principles 🙂
Earth Care – Let’s stop wrecking the place and start healing it
People Care – No one left out, everyone listened to and valued, needs met
Fair Share – Sharing is caring and surplus is fairly distributed
Self-Organising, You Say?
Yep. There’s no main stage. No headline act. No clipboard-wielding official telling you where to stand.
This is a self-organising gathering, which means we all bring a bit of magic to the pot. Got a skill, an idea, a burning topic or a fiddle? Bring it. Want to offer a workshop, hold a space, or lead a morning stretch? Go for it. You don’t need permission – just willingness and good intentions.
What’s Happening?
Here’s what we do know (the rest is up to you):
Opening Circle. 10am Saturday morning, we’ll gather and start the weekend with our ideas
Vegan Communal Meal – Saturday evening we feast! Bring some produce from your garden, allotment, windowsill or even the local market. All other meals are… you guessed it… self-organised. Bring what you need, maybe share a bit around and we’ll all manage fine. (We always do.) There will also be an onsite organic shop open.
Music, dancing, late-night fireside chats – round a central fire
Onsite café – for when the oat milk runs out or just cos you don’t want to cook –
Workshops, skillshares, permaculture chats
Family friendly – kids welcome, wildness encouraged (although this doesn’t mean zero supervision from adults 🙂 )
Sunday – We Get Organised (Sort Of)
This year we’re holding our very first AGM – Annual General Meeting. Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds.
It’s basically a big circle where we all get to talk about how the Association runs, how we want it to grow, and how we make sure it stays beautiful, welcoming and weird (in the best way). Everyone’s invited, whether you’re a first-timer or an elder. It’s your Permaculture Association!
Tickets and the Nitty-Gritty
Early Bird (first 80 folks): €25
Regular Adult Ticket: €35
Under 16s: €10

Accommodation
Bring your tent, your campervan, your yurt or that questionable tarp setup you’re overly confident about.
Camping is included and there’s also limited on-site accommodation at Slieve Aughty if you’re more into duvets than dew – book that directly with the venue. www.slieveaughtycentre.com
So, Who Is Coming Then?
Hopefully you.
Whether you’re deep into permaculture, just curious, or simply need a weekend with good humans and fresh air, you’re welcome.
Come alone, come with the kids, come with a tent and a sense of adventure. We’ll bring the kettle.
Tickets are available now – grab one early to save a few euro!
Let us know you’re coming (it REALLY helps us with organising the basics) and share this with your people.
See you in the field
With love, compost and community

and also…
The Week before the AIPG – CELT are also offering a unique and inspiring 4 day workshop on Earth Care & Social Permaculture – facilitated by internationally renown guests Starhawk and Alfred Decker, with a local contribution from Davie Philip of Cultivate (Cloughjordan Ecovillage),… this special gathering in Co. Galway aims to take you on a journey of transformation and regeneration of inner and outer landscapes… bringing together permaculturalists, change makers, rebels and dreamers to share some time in nature, strengthen our connections, share our knowledge and deepen our collective and creative vision.
We will explore how an understanding of ecology and the principles of permaculture vital for our times, can infuse our collective actions to meet core human needs, while also sharing key tools for staying present, grounded, creative and connected during challenging times.
